It is a condition caused by persistent diarrhea or constipation where the veins of the rectum and anus get swollen. One may start getting symptoms like bleeding in the stool, irritation and pain around the rectum. They are usually normal in the body until they get infected and this causes them to be swollen and painful.
This condition occurs when the vessels increase pressure making them to swell and increase in size. Below are the factors that causes the increase in pressure that lead to swollen hemorrhoids. Pregnancy makes the uterus enlarge hence increase in pressure for the rectum causing swellings.
If one has had a rectal surgery in the past, it causes this condition in most cases. This condition is mostly caused by lack of upright posture and injuries of the spinal cord. Low fiber foods when consumed makes the blood vessels to increase pressure and lead to swelling of the hemorrhoids.
This condition is also caused by the cancer of the colon that makes the intestines exert a lot of pressure for the blood vessels hence the swelling in the anus and rectum. These swellings get to release mucus that causes inflammation around the area. These swellings causes skin tags that are painful hence leading to other infections.
Diagnosis is usually done to detect the condition whereby in case no results are found, the examiner recommends a scan. There are several treatmentmethods that can be performed to a patient like home remedies that are easy for one. Avoiding intake of spicy foods helps in reducing inflammation.
One I advised to sit in a warm water bath that covers the anal area and the hips to help reduce the inflammation. After the bath, one is supposed to wipe the area gently to avoid irritation. To avoid itchiness and more damage one is supposed to apply some petroleum jelly around the area.
It is essential to take a bed rest since this reduces the pressure that causes the irritation. A pregnant woman is supposed to rest on a side posture since it helps reduce the irritation by relaxing the vessels and one gets to feel comfortable this way. The vessels can be relaxed by avoiding suing pressure on the anal area.
One can prevent moisture from building up and causing irritation on the anal area by wearing loose clothes and cotton pants. One can use ice packs on the affected area to reduce swelling and irritation. One can reduce swelling by avoiding taking a lot of time in the toilet since it reduces vessels enlargement. It is important to sit up and lift the leg up a bit since it helps one in reducing the inflammation.
